In
Somebody Else's Shoes
Have you ever tried on a pair of
shoes that just did not seem to fit? No matter
how desperate your attempt, the shoes just would
not fit! Contrary to the obvious, you decide to
wear them anyway. As you forcibly step into the
shoes, discomfort pierces your entire body from
the inside out, and your suffering begins. Oh if
your feet could talk or scream!! You walk around
smiling on the outside but paining on the
inside--thinking, "I can't wait to get out
of these shoes." You wear the uncomfortable
shoes and can barely walk because you are wearing
shoes not made to fit your feet--but somebody
else's. In essence, you are in somebody else's
shoes.
These shoes, these unbefitting
shoes--are symbolic of our lives. Symbolic
because by choice, we live lives that are
unbefitting to us--unbefitting to who we really
are. We have lived and continue to live lives
that are either dictated by others, by society,
or by past circumstances. Suffering and paining
on the inside, while smiling on the outside
because we have not made the conscious decision
to get out--to step out of our unbefitting lives.
At anytime, you can choice to get
rid of and discard the shoes that are
unbefitting, you can rid of the things in your
life that do not fit in with who you are, or what
you would like to become. Do not live a life that
fits somebody else's agenda, purpose or goal if
it brings you discomfort and causes you to
suffer. If the shoes don't fit--kick off those
shoes, take a deep breath, and purpose to live a
fulfilling life that is fitting to your calling,
your hopes and desires.
Make the decision to stop walking
around in somebody else's shoes and step into the
fulfilling life that is purposed and befitting
for only YOU.

Think About It!!
It has occurred to
me recently that I have never chosen anything. I
was born into a role that had been prepared for
me. I did everything I was asked to do because it
never occurred to me to choose otherwise. And
now, at the end of my life, I wonder what might
have been. Centauri Emperor, Babylon 5
